Clap your hands now: GREGORY PORTER at the Ghent Jazz Festival 2019!

The breakthrough for Gregory Porter was the Claptone remix of Liquid Spirit. Since then, Porter has proven that he can also do it without a remix. He received, among other things, the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album for Liquid Spirit and can count this album as the most streamed jazz album ever. As an ode to Nat ‘King’ Cole he released the cover record Nat ‘King’ Cole & Me last year around this time of the year and at the end of last month his first live album “One Night Only – Live at Royal Albert Hall”. From Lowlands to North Sea Jazz and from Glastonbury to Couleur Café: the charming man with the characteristic headgear has been selling out venues for years with his soulful jazz songs. At these he is always surrounded by a traditional jazz trio, quartet or big band. With what line-up he will be coming to the Ghent Jazz Festival this summer is still the question!

Tickets are available from www.gentjazz.com.

Despite his major success with the Claptone remix, Porter has continued to follow his own path, and that is jazz. He likes all kinds of music, but especially likes to come home again, back to his roots. Since his first album “Water” came out in 2010, the man has known success. Despite the fact that Porter is now much more successful than before, he doesn’t always opt for large big bands, but also dares to go for smaller, dynamic line-ups. In 2015 the singer was on the stage at the Ghent Jazz Festival. With what line-up the singer will be at the Ghent Jazz Festival on Sunday, July 7th, 2019 is still the question.
